The Washington Commanders are signing former Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm to their practice squad to address the injury to Carson Wentz.

Wentz suffered a hand injury in last week’s Thursday Night Football game against the Chicago Bears. He grazed his finger on a helmet of a pressuring defender.

Taylor Heinicke and Sam Howell will be in front of Fromm on the depth chart. This move is likely safety blanket related only.

Fromm threw for 8,224 yards, 78 touchdowns and 18 interceptions while at Georgia. He played 3 seasons from 2017-2019 and was drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the 5th round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

He never got his chance, as he was sitting behind future star Josh Allen out of Wyoming. He’s moved around the league since, eventually landing in Washington Tuesday.
