Sideline reporting can be dangerous at times, and ESPN’s Laura Rutledge got a glimpse of that working the UMass-Georgia game.

She took the brunt of a play between Michah Morel of UMass and Georgia’s Matthew Brown in a play that spilled into and through the sideline. In a game that Georgia won 66-27, there was little suspense, and largely little to report on besides superlatives for the big numbers the Bulldogs put up.

Credit to Rutledge for bouncing back right away after the blindside hit that came as she appeared to be set for a live report from the field. The more a reporter is on the field, and Rutledge has shown that she can criss-cross the country, the more this kind of incident will cause her to keep her head on a swivel at all times.
