Five-star power forward E.J. Montgomery has committed to Kentucky, according to Evan Daniels of 247Sports.com, over Duke and North Carolina, among others.

Montgomery, from Marietta, Georgia, is ranked as the nation’s No. 12 overall player, the No. 3 power forward and the state of Georgia’s top overall prospect, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The 6-foot-10, 200-pound prospect explained to the outlet why he chose Kentucky over others.

“It’s a big factor because my parents just wanted me to go to a school that I can get develop the most,” Montgomery told 247Sports. “Their track record with their players in the NBA shows that they’re pretty good at it.”

“It was a pretty hard decision. I had to talk about the pros and cons about every school. I just had that feeling that Kentucky was the place for me.”

Following the commitment of Montgomery, Kentucky now has four players committed in the recruiting class. Montgomery joins guards Keldon Johnson and Immanuel Quickley as 5-star commits, while Tyler Herro is a 4-star.

The Wildcats now have the second-ranked recruiting class behind No. 1 Duke, and they may not be done yet. Kentucky is thought to be the leader for 5-star guard Ashton Hagans, too.

It’s easy to see why Montgomery is a highly-coveted prospect:
