Kentucky basketball released a statement clarifying the eligibility status surrounding Croatian big man Zvonimir Ivisic Thursday.

Ivisic remains ineligible this season as the Wildcats await an eligibility ruling from the NCAA. He was officially accepted to Kentucky just a few weeks ago.

Wildcats head coach John Calipari caused some confusion this week when he said Ivisic would be eligible to play in the Wildcats’ exhibition matchups. Kentucky clarified that Thursday, saying Ivisic can participate in practice and intrasquad games (such as the Blue and White game), but cannot compete against outside competition.

Here’s the full statement:

Kentucky fans can do nothing but wait patiently for the NCAA’s ruling on Ivisic, who should provide an immediate boost for UK. He stands at 7-2 and has the ability to stretch the floor, a major plus with Kentucky’s seemingly endless supply of athleticism.

The Wildcats tip off their 2023-24 season on November 6 against New Mexico State. They play Kentucky State in an exhibition next week.
