Kentucky had a big week to open SEC play in men’s basketball last week with wins at Georgia and against Alabama.

The Wildcats were rewarded for their play with a sweep of the weekly honors from the league. G Immanuel Quickley was named the Player of the Week and G Tyrese Maxey the Freshman of the Week.

Quickley, a 6-foot-3, 188-pound sophomore averaged 17 points, five rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals. Maxey, a 6-foot-3, 198-pounder averaged 15 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and two blocks.

Quickley was 11-of-20 from the field and an amazing 8-for-9 from 3-point range. With the game against the Tide hanging in the balance at 71-67, he drained his career-high fifth 3-pointer of the game and then two foul shots in the final minute to seal UK’s fourth straight win.

Maxey had a game-high-tying 17 points in his first road game at Georgia. He also made career highs in assists (eight) and blocks (four) in the win, plus a team-high-tying seven rebounds. Against Alabama, Maxey scored 13 points to reach double-digit scoring for the fifth time in the last six games.

UK (12-3) moved up to No. 10 from No. 14 in this week’s Associated Press top 25 poll. The Wildcats return to action on Wednesday at South Carolina.
