On Thursday, news broke that 6 Kentucky players are facing burglary charges from a March incident.

The six players charged with burglary, first degree, are Reuben (RJ) Adams, Robert (JuTahn) McClain, Andru Phillips, Earnest Sanders IV, Devito (Vito) Tisdale and Joel Williams. Tisdale has also been charged with Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree.

Kentucky head coach Mark Stoops has now issued a statement on the matter, revealing that the players were held out of spring practices but returned to the team in June:

“I am aware of the situation that arose today. Out of respect for the legal process, I cannot comment on the charges. We’ve been aware of this matter since March, as we withheld the players from team activities while a student conduct review was held. Based on the outcome of the review, the players returned to activity in June. We are evaluating the current situation as we receive more information.”

Kentucky opens the season against ULM on Sept. 4 at home.
