Mark Stoops and Kentucky will have its spring game on Saturday, and the Kentucky coach made an appearance on Friday on Kentucky Sports Radio via NewsRadio 630 WLAP.

Stoops was asked about something he’s most excited about this season, and the offensive transition to new coordinator Rich Scangarello.

“Having a quarterback like Will (Levis) with the experience he has is a big deal,” Stoops said. “Obviously you’ve got to have a great team. There’s no one player that’s going to make a team in college football. You’ve got to have a great group of guys and a lot of people, but I think it’s fair to say when you have a big-time trigger guy, a big-time quarterback, that helps a lot of people around you get better. That’s certainly a big deal for us.”

Stoops said the transition between Scangarello and Levis has been very smooth.

“Definitely some new wrinkles, and different things, philosophically will be a lot the same as we’ve been, that we were last year,” he said. “There’s a ton to build on, but Rich has been a great addition. Really good for all of our quarterbacks. Really good for continuing to develop and evolve in this offense and this team. It’s been a very smooth transition. I’m very excited about Rich and all the coaches. I feel like we have a great group.

Stoops also outlined the format for the spring game.

“The bottom line is what we came down to, and it’s probably going to be the best for the fans even though you can’t keep score, we’re just going to go out there and practice, we’re going to scrimmage,” he said. “You’re going to see the best football we can put on in the spring.”
