Quick thoughts from Kentucky’s 44-40 loss against No. 22 Louisville:

What it means: Kentucky suffered the worst collapse in the SEC this season. After opening with a 5-1 record, the Wildcats lost six straight games to fall short of bowl eligibility. Louisville extends its annual winning streak to four games with Saturday’s win.

What I liked: Kentucky showed fight against an overmatched opponent. Saturday’s game saw seven lead changes, with the Cardinals providing the final score late in the fourth quarter. Kentucky also managed to score two touchdowns on turnovers, including a 40-yard pick six by Fred Tiller in the second quarter and a 30-yard fumble return by Mike Douglas.

What I didn’t like: The Wildcats defense allowed third string quarterback Kyle Bolin to throw for 381 yards and three touchdowns on 21-of-31 passing. Bolin entered the game after Kenny Bonnafon suffered an injury in the second quarter. The freshman connected with DeVante Parker for all three scores. Parker dominated the Kentucky secondary with 180 yards on six catches.

Who’s the man: Stanley “Boom” Williams. The freshman lived up to his name by breaking three different tackles en route to the end zone in the fourth quarter. Williams rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns against the No. 3 rushing defense in the nation.

Key plays: In a game that saw scoring from both teams, the deciding factor was a 4-yard touchdown run by Brandon Radcliff. But the biggest play of the drive was a 26-yard reception by Parker that set up the scoring play.

What’s next: Nothing. Kentucky’s season is over.
