Kentucky linebacker Chris Whittaker has entered the NCAA transfer portal, per 247Sports.

The rising redshirt sophomore didn’t play in a game in 2018 and redshirted in 2017. The Hollywood, Florida, native signed at Kentucky with the class of 2017. He was rated a 3-star prospect and ranked as the nation’s No. 65 weak-side defensive end and the state of Florida’s No. 167 overall prospect, per 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The 6-foot-3, 260-pound defender was expected to compete for playing time this season for the position vacated by Josh Allen. With Whittaker presumably interested in transferring, attention turns to Alex King and Jordan Wright at the position.

Including Whittaker, seven members of the 2018 team have entered the transfer portal.
