Roman Harper appreciates Kentucky fans for listening to him, but he isn’t backing down.

Appearing on the Paul Finebaum, Harper said that his opinion about Kentucky’s toughness on the offensive line remains firm even after a 26-16 win over Florida last Saturday in the Swamp.

“My opinion still really has not changed from my first take,” Harper said. “I thought Kentucky played well, I thought Florida helped them out a lot. But Kentucky was more mentally tough and outperformed them. … I still don’t think they’re that great offensive line-wise up front. I still don’t think they’re pushing guys around from what I’m used to seeing from a Kentucky team. I’m just being honest. I thought they found a really nice weak spot in Florida’s defense, which was recreating the edges. I do give the Kentucky players and the coaches credit because they didn’t take it personally when I said that.”

Kentucky only rushed for 70 net yards against Florida, but that includes a 39-yard loss on a bad punt snap. The Wildcats got first downs when they needed to down the stretch and Kavosiey Smoke ran for 80 yards on 14 carries.

Harper told Finebaum that some Kentucky fans have shown him appreciation for his words, believing the team used them for motivation.

“I’ve had at least 5 Kentucky fans come up and thank me this week, Paul, and I just want to say, at least you’re listening and I actually did you a favor by telling you the truth and you played better because of it,” Harper said. “I’m sorry that it took all that happening for all this to come out, but I’m happy for Kentucky. I love this coaching staff for who this is for Kentucky because they did not take it personal.”
