Sahvir Wheeler, a 5-foot-9 and 180-pound point guard at Kentucky, has announced his plans for next season.

Wheeler, who was a Bob Cousy Award finalist for the nation’s best point guard, and an All-SEC Second Team by both the league’s coaches and the media, will return for another season in Lexington. Wheeler was third in the nation and first in the SEC for the second straight season with an average of 6.9 assists per game.

He wrote on Instagram: “Since everyone thinking the last post was a returning announcement, here’s your official one: IM BACK WATCH YOURS”

Wheeler joined Oscar Tshiebwe as starters on last year’s Kentucky team to announce their plans to stay in school.

Starting 29 of 30 games for the Wildcats as a junior this season, Wheeler averaged 10.1 points, 6.9 assists, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game en route to earning Second Team All-SEC honors from the league’s coaches.

Wheeler last season had 207 assists on the season which is the fourth most in a single season in UK history, and that was also a career high, Wheeler was second in the SEC with a 2.27 assist-to-turnover ratio. Wheeler also totaled 12 games with at least 8 assists and had 5 or more in 12 of the final 13 games of the season.
