Sister Jean names SEC team as current pick to win 2023 NCAA Tournament
Sister Jean became one of college basketball’s most famous fans during Loyola Chicago’s memorable 2018 NCAA Tournament run. Sister Jean, born Jean Dolores Schmidt, is now 103 years old – and still closely following college hoops.
During an interview with “Good Morning America” to discuss her new memoir “Wake Up with Purpose” and other topics, Sister Jean was asked for her thoughts on who will win the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
“Right now, it looks to me as though Kentucky will,” she told the show.
“You can have a purpose. It’s what you do every day.”

John Calipari’s squad has gone through many ups and downs in the 2022-23 season. Kentucky has won its last 4 games, defeating Mississippi State, Tennessee, Florida and Auburn to improve to 20-9 overall. The Wildcats have their home finale on Wednesday against Vanderbilt before traveling to Arkansas to end the regular season.
The Cats are certainly one of the hottest teams heading into the SEC basketball tournament. We’ll see if they can keep the momentum going for an NCAA Tournament run.

Good to hear.
I would prefer the Tide, but I love UK hoops too.
As long as it ain’t a big ten team
Isn’t it interesting that neither Alabama or Kentucky will win it…
If that was a fact you’d be making more money than a biomedical Eng.
But since it’s a homer prediction – well, you know.
BTW, how many men’s Final Fours, Runners Up, and Championships do the Vols have? Don’t bother looking it up – it’s zero.
Do y’all still have the Pruitt meal on the menu at McDonald’s?
Who am I to argue with a centenarian Nun?
Pretty sure she’s trolling UKBB. I mean, she’s got to know UK’s recent tournament record..
Actually she’s probably smarter than most and going with the historical odds.
