Tim Couch has watched several iterations of Kentucky football for decades, and he is in the middle of the excitement around the program coming off the huge and historic Florida win, and ahead this week with LSU coming to town.

Couch was a guest on SEC This Morning on the SEC Network with Peter Burns and Chris Doering.

“It’s going to be great, Chris,” Couch said. “I’m sure you guys saw the atmosphere for the Florida game last week, and it was unbelievable.”

Couch, a long-time Kentucky fan and former player, said, “I’ve never seen the atmosphere at home like we had against Florida last week, and now we’re 5-0 with an opportunity to go 6-0 this week against a really good LSU team. So it’s going to be very similar to what it was last week, the stadium is going to be electric, it’s going to be sold out. It’s going to be a lot of fun to be there.”

Couch said UK fans have talked all week about the game, and the tailgate scene and weather on Saturday are shaping up to be fantastic.

Couch was asked about the offensive being a bit “bogged down” in recent weeks. He said Will Levis is still a young player with a lot to learn, but he’s so talented.

“If you just watch him play, the obvious skill sets jump out at you,” Couch said. “He’s so big and physical and fast, he’s got a huge arm.”

He said the deep throws off of play-action is really what makes the offense go since it has the bread and butter of a solid running game.

Burns asked Couch about the Keeneland-UK football double, and he said it’s all about pacing yourself to take part in both.

“Hopefully they take my advice and pace themselves, because I’ve seen many folks misjudge the finish line on that deal,” Couch said.

Couch also said that Wan’Dale Robinson’s return to Kentucky influences high school athletes to say to themselves, “I want to go do what Wan’Dale’s doing. I want to be a Kentucky kid wearing the blue and white.”

He added that it’s huge for the program, and in-state recruiting, that Robinson is having success.
