Kentucky associate head coach and recruiting coordinator Vince Marrow has been a huge part of Mark Stoops’ staff in Lexington the past few years, during which the Wildcats have risen into the ranks of relevant programs on a national scale.

In 2018, the Wildcats won 10 games for the first time since 1977, and despite losing a number of key players from that squad, still look like a talented team heading into 2019.

Therefore, Marrow is upset with some of the national media projections for Kentucky this season, some of which don’t even have the Wildcats making a bowl game. While guest hosting Kentucky Sports Radio on Tuesday, Marrow said the lack of respect for the Kentucky program is making him angry (via KentuckySportsRadio.com):

“I’m knocking down doors to national media because these guys are really pissing me off,” Marrow said. “It’s pissing me off.

“I was listening to Tom Leach and, those guys — I should stop listening to radio. I guess they said (Kentucky QB) Terry (Wilson) was the last rated QB in the preseason? We should start a poll, and I’m going to talk to the BBN, just like coaches get fired for wins and losses, when all these reporters come out and say, hey, this team is going 4-8 and this team ain’t gonna do that. If they’re wrong, they should get fired.”

Marrow is right about media members overlooking Kentucky, but most coaches would see that as a good thing. Nick Saban, for example, would probably be thrilled if national media members were overlooking Alabama, because he could use that for motivation in the locker room.

Regardless, Marrow is angry, and we’ll see if that fire carries over into the 2019 season for the Wildcats.
