Mark Stoops’ troops came into the 2020 season looking to get some national attentional and rankings respect. Kentucky could have made a big statement with a road upset of No. 8 Auburn, but the Wildcats came up short, falling 29-13 at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
After the game, Stoops took questions from reporters. The controversial call on Chris Rodriguez’s apparent touchdown came up, as well as a failed fake punt attempt. Stoops also shared his thoughts on Terry Wilson’s return coming back from his 2019 season-ending injury and the impressive play from standout Auburn wide receiver Seth Williams.
Stoops on Rodriguez being ruled down short of goal: "I don’t understand it either. He was clearly in. I really can’t get a good explanation. I didn’t really get good explanations all day. I don’t know if us wearing these masks. That was a big swing."

On Terry Wilson's performance:
"Critical area he needs to improve is securing the football in the run game." Says he did some positive things as well; lots to build off of.

Stoops: Too many mistakes to beat a quality team like Auburn on the road. A lot of good things, but let 3-4 bad things happen and a few of them in a five-minute span to swing things.

"We came in at half knowing we were doing some very good things."
"Whether [the no call] affected us, I don't really know." Mentioned they didn't start off well in the second half going three-and-out twice.
