Trendon Watford has been generating a lot of buzz lately as his commitment date neared. Alabama and LSU were both among the favorites to land the 5-star 2019 forward’s services, as were Indiana and Memphis.

On Monday, the day finally came for Watford to make his decision. During a commitment ceremony at his high school, the 6-9, 230-pound power forward from Mountain Brook High School in Birmingham has those four teams represented with hats.

When it finally came time for him to put one on, though, he chose LSU, and will head off to Baton Rouge to join Will Wade and the Tigers.

Per the 247Sports composite, Watford is the No. 4 power forward in the class of 2019 and the No. 1 overall recruit from the state of Alabama. He’s the No. 17 overall prospect in the nation.

This will be a huge boost to LSU’s recruiting class. Prior to Watford’s decision, the Tigers’ class only had two members, ranking No. 86 in the nation and No. 13 in the SEC, per 247Sports.

Watford averaged 23.7 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.1 steals and 2.5 blocks per game this year, leading Mountain Brook to a state title.
