Don’t count out the LSU baseball team, especially in extra innings.

That’s the lesson to be learned from Saturday night, where the Tigers upended Texas-San Antonio thanks to 3 extra-inning home runs, including Jordan Thompson’s solo blast to left-center field in the bottom of the 13th inning to win 10-9 at Alex Box Stadium. That was Thompson’s fourth home run of the year and already LSU’s third walk-off win of the season.

Thompson’s home run in extras came after LSU’s Cade Doughty hit a 3-run dinger with one out in the 10th, then LSU’s Gavin Dugas in the 12th answered with a two-out, two-run home run to left-center field that tied the game at 9-9.

“This was a crazy game, and let me say first of all that UTSA has an outstanding ball club,” said LSU coach Paul Mainieri. “There are lot of things that happened in the game that cause us concern, but the overarching theme of tonight is the resiliency of our team. They just never gave up, never quit. Even though it looked like we were done a couple of times, our guys kept battling and we got some big swings. If you’re going to spend this much time out at the ballpark, you might as well end up winning.”
