Brian Kelly has officially added Jimmy Lindsey to his LSU coaching staff. The Tigers made the announcement on Monday afternoon. It was reported Friday that LSU was closing in on hiring Lindsey.

Lindsey heads to the SEC West after 2 seasons at South Carolina. This weekend, one of Lindsey’s Gamecock defensive linemen, Zacch Pickens, was selected No. 64 overall by the Chicago Bears. Kelly pointed to Lindsey’s development as a reason to bring him to Baton Rouge:

“Jimmy is an outstanding defensive line coach and we are excited to welcome him to our staff,” Kelly said in a program release. “He will do a great job of not only coaching our players on the field, but also helping them develop off the field as we continue our commitment to graduating champions.

“Jimmy has a proven track record of developing defensive linemen and I know our players are going to benefit from his expertise.”

Lindsey, 45, has been in coaching since 2000, getting his start as a graduate assistant at Chattanooga, his alma mater. Lindsey got into the Power 5 ranks in 2020 as defensive ends coach at Illinois.
