Brian Kelly’s LSU Tigers defeated UAB Saturday night 41-10, and it was arguably LSU’s best game on both sides of the ball this season.

When other teams around the nation struggled against inferior competition, LSU didn’t, and the Tigers are playing their best football as the season winds down.

Quarterback Jayden Daniels completed 22-of-29 for 297 yards and 1 touchdown. He also recorded 12 carries for 111 yards and 1 touchdown.

Noah Cain also added 3 rushing touchdowns.

Below is a summary of what he said during his postgame press conference:

  • Kelly continues to be impressed with his team’s mental toughness that they’ve acquired over the year.
  • With Saturday being tough for other teams around the nation, Kelly said his team put their best effort out there in late November when other teams didn’t.
  • Winning the SEC West was good, but he’s most proud of his team’s development of mental toughness throughout the season.
  • Kelly said that he thought Jayden Daniels played his best game of the season. His decisiveness and assertiveness stood out this week in practice.
  • If you take out the kick return touchdown, Kelly thought this was LSU’s most efficient game on both sides of the ball.
  • Kayshon Boutte didn’t play, and Kelly said he tried to play. He’s been out since Wednesday with the flu.
  • Josh Williams has a knee injury and could have played. He should return next week against Texas A&M.
  • Armoni Goodwin will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.
