A California defensive tackle has backed off his pledge to LSU.

Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne defensive tackle Jordan Berry made the announcement via social media on Thursday.

“To Coach O and the entire staff at LSU, I want to thank you for recruiting me and making me feel a part of the Tiger family,” Berry wrote in a note shared to his Twitter account. “I have nothing but love for you guys. However, at this time, I feel it is best that I reopen my recruitment and decommit from the program and explore my other options. This is one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever had to make in my life and I appreciate everyone for their understanding and support as I proceed through the recruiting process. Thank you!”

The 6-3, 322-pound Berry initially committed to LSU on Feb. 16, 2019, a junior day event for the Tigers. He is rated 3-stars on the 247Sports Composite and also has scholarship offers from Florida and Georgia.

LSU still has 21 commitments in a 2020 class ranked No. 4 nationally and No. 2 in the SEC on the Composite.
