Longtime sports radio host Dan Patrick says one of the top recruits in the class of 2023 has a new leading contender among the countless college football teams vying for his services.

According to a source of Patrick’s, New Orleans native Arch Manning has Alabama at the top of his list following his visit to Tuscaloosa last Saturday for the Crimson Tide’s game against No. 17 Ole Miss.

“LSU has to hire someone who can get into the Arch Manning sweepstakes and that person is not (LSU head coach) Ed Orgeron,” said Patrick on his Dan Patrick Show Thursday morning. “I followed up with my source, I said, ‘Do you think LSU would fire (Orgeron) and hire someone who can recruit Arch Manning?’ My source said, ‘Yes.’”

The entire segment from the Dan Patrick Show with Patrick discussing possible landing spots (among other things) for the son of Cooper Manning and nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning can be seen below:

Although Texas and Georgia were previously thought to be the leading candidates for landing the 5-star quarterback, Patrick’s comments suggest that another formidable college football blue blood has taken control of the race.

Manning is reportedly still planning on visiting Ole Miss in late October as well as a scheduled visit to Clemson.

“My source says ‘I think Alabama is the frontrunner with Clemson and Texas close behind,'” Patrick began before continuing with his source’s comments.

“‘LSU has to get into the mix.'”
