The LSU Tigers have their first lead over the Clemson Tigers 21-17 with just over five minutes left in the first half of the national title game.

Tigers wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was on the receiving end of Joe Burrow’s 14-yard touchdown pass. The catch became Chase’s 20th touchdown reception of the season, as he has recorded the most touchdown receptions in SEC history for one season. Chase caught his SEC-leading 19th earlier in the first half.

Burrow and LSU drove the length of the field in six plays to take the lead in the second quarter. This was a beautiful pass by the LSU quarterback, too:

The touchdown pass was set up by Jordan Jefferson, who had an ankle-breaking 18-yard pass reception the play before.

Clemson jumped out to the early lead in the first quarter; however, LSU has mounted a comeback to take the 21-17 lead mid-way through the second quarter.
