Can you smell what Coach O is cookin’?

LSU coach Ed Orgeron is known for his larger than life antics as a coach and motivator on the football field, but his most famous protege never played a down in the NFL. Before his days of wrestling fame, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson won a national championship in 1991 as a member of the Miami Hurricanes football team. Ed Orgeron was the defensive line coach on that fearsome team that also included Warren Sapp.

Orgeron delved deeper into this relationship while on ESPN’s Mike and Mike program Wednesday, joking that he inspired Johnson to go into wrestling during one especially difficult practice.

Johnson comes from the famous Anoaʻi wrestling family that has had several members among the ranks of WWE history. Orgeron told The Rock to go join his uncle, which could’ve been referring to either Afa Anoaʻi or Sika Anoaʻi, both of whom made names for themselves in the ring.
