Former LSU offensive lineman Xavier Hill has a new home in college football.

Hill entered the transfer portal last week and already committed to the Memphis Tigers for the 2023 season. This was Hill’s 1st season playing for LSU head coach Brian Kelly and he decided to depart after the lone season together.

For next season, Hill will be making the transition from the SEC to the AAC. The 2022 season was Hill’s 3rd season with LSU and he saw limited playing time. The new coaching staff could have contributed to Hill appearing in 3 games. Even with a new coaching staff, Hill’s 3 games played was the same amount of games he played in 2021 under former head coach Ed Orgeron. As a freshman in 2020, he played in 1 game.

The main difference was that Hill started 2 games in 2021. This season, Hill did not start any games for the Tigers and just appeared in a reserved role for 3 games. He finished his time at LSU with 7 games played and 2 starts over the span of 3 seasons.

Hill will look to make a bigger impact at Memphis. LSU ended the regular season with a 9-4 record. The Tigers fell short to the Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship Game.

LSU will close out the season against Purdue in the Citrus Bowl on Monday, Jan. 2 at 1 p.m. ET.
