For the first five years of his NFL career, former LSU star Tyrann Mathieu was a do-it-all defensive back for the Arizona Cardinals.

However, now that he’s with the Houston Texans, he’s zeroing in on only one position for the 2018 season — strong safety.

According to the Houston Chronicle, Mathieu is enjoying being able to simply things a little bit heading into his first year in Houston:

“Yeah, it definitely helps me slow things down. Just focusing on one position, trying to be the best at that, rather than just being good at everything,” Mathieu said. “So, I think it’s important for me to just embrace it like I have been and just trying to continue to grow as a safety.”

Mathieu has recorded 11 interceptions and four forced fumbles in his career so far. The Texans will be counting on him to be his usual talented self this year and beyond.

Now that he’ll know his position inside and out, he could be even better for his new squad.
