One of the more discussed players at the NFL Trade Deadline on Thursday was New York Jets and former LSU safety Jamal Adams. But apparently, he didn’t want to be dealt.

Adams tweeted hours after the deadline past at 4 pm ET that he didn’t request a trade, and that he even sat down with Jets general manager Joe Douglas last week to tell him he wanted to remain with the Jets.

Prior to the NFL Trade Deadline, the Dallas Cowboys and Baltimore Ravens were at least two teams interested in acquiring Adams. The Jets were reportedly seeking more than a first-round pick for the third-year safety, who is one of the Jets’ best defensive players.

Adams has 39 combined tackles, 3.0 tackles for loss, one quarterback hit and one interception, which he returned for a touchdown, this season. He has 236 tackles and two interceptions in his NFL career. Last season, Adams earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl.

In three years at LSU, Adams posted five interceptions, 18.0 tackles for loss and 2.0 sacks. After impressing scouts during the draft process, the Jets selected him sixth overall in the 2017 NFL Draft.
