Jay Johnson and LSU turned in an impressive performance on Wednesday afternoon during a 10-3 win over South Carolina in the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama.

The win gave Johnson the 400th win of his career.

During an interview on SEC Network after the game, Johnson was unaware of the milestone, but said the blueprint for that many wins is to coach players like Thatcher Hurd, who went 5 1/3 innings and allowed 3 earned runs, 2 walks and struck out 4 batters.

The top 3 hitters in LSU’s lineup had 2 hits each and at least an RBI each. Third baseman Tommy White reached a milestone of 90 RBIs. He knocked in 2 runs, which gave him 91 on the season. He became the first SEC player with 90 RBIs since South Carolina’s Yaron Peters had 95 in 2002. It’s just the 16th time an SEC player reached 90 RBIs.

Tre Morgan, Hayden Travinski and Brayden Jobert each added 2 RBIs.

Nate Ackenhausen went 3 1/3 innings and allowed just 1 hit with 3 walks and 6 strikeouts.
