SEC play has started for LSU, and quarterback Joe Burrow isn’t missing a beat. In fact, he may look even better Saturday than during the Tigers’ first three games of the season.

Burrow passed for 357 yards and four touchdowns against Vanderbilt — before halftime. He completed 18 of his 24 pass attempts and got LSU out to a commanding 38-17 lead in Nashville.

In the first half, Burrow’s favorite target was sophomore wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase, who had seven receptions for 199 yards and three touchdowns. Burrow also connected with junior Justin Jefferson for a touchdown.

It’s the third time in four games this season that Burrow has passed for four touchdowns, as he also threw four against Texas on Sept. 7 and tossed five in the season opener against Georgia Southern on Aug. 31. He’s thrown only two interceptions through the first three-and-a-half games of LSU’s season.

Burrow’s first-half stats would have been terrific if they were for the entire game, which shows just how impressive he and the No. 4 Tigers are this year.

In the past, LSU hasn’t been known for having a dominant passing attack, but that’s changed. Burrow is the first Tigers quarterback to throw for at least 350 yards in three straight games, according to Glenn Guilbeau of the USA Today Network.

Last year, in his first season at LSU, Burrow passed for 2,894 yards and 16 touchdowns. He’s on pace to well surpass both of those numbers, as this could turn out to be a special year for him and the Tigers.
