Lou Holtz and Mark May took some time this week to break down the Mississippi State-LSU game, and the former coach noted how he loves both quarterbacks.

“I love (Jayden) Daniels at quarterback, Mark,” Holtz said. “He can run the football. … These are the 2 best quarterbacks in the conference.”

Holtz added that Mike Leach knows how to develop a quarterback and that, “Will Rogers has been nothing short of fantastic this, but he was very, very good last year, Mark.”

With his pick, Holtz took LSU, 27-24 primarily because of Daniels.

For his part, May noted how Rogers spreads the ball around, and last week had 5 receivers with at least 5 catches. May was also impressed that Mississippi State had an impressive win to travel so far and win at Arizona.

“I like Mississippi State giving the points, give me Mississippi State 37-31,” he said.

May’s concern with LSU is that the Tigers still have problems with special teams, and the Mississippi State defense already has 3 interceptions, and returned those picks 80 yards.
