Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards plants piece of Tiger Stadium sod at governor's mansion front yard
Hundreds of people took advantage of the opportunity to take a free piece of sod from LSU’s Tiger Stadium. It appears the governor (or, presumably, a staffer) was among them.
Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards shared a video of him watering the front yard at the governor’s mansion as he prepared to add a piece of Tiger Stadium sod. He indicated the special sod from will be used to memorialize LSU’s 12-0 2019 regular season with a brick outline.
I was lucky enough to snag some @LSUfootball sod yesterday and I’m happy to be able to memorialize this incredible season by planting a piece of history in the Mansion’s front yard. #GeauxTigers #JoeForHeisman #lagov pic.twitter.com/cGjByNMDrh

In addition to being a supporter of his alma mater (J.D., 1999), Edwards is also personally acquainted with Ed Orgeron. The LSU coach has introduced Edwards at a political fundraiser and the two went hunting in 2017. Last month, Gov. Edwards called into Orgeron’s weekly radio show.
