LSU picked up two 2016 commits from Texas on Wednesday, four-star safety Eric Monroe (Houston) and three-star defensive end Rahssan Thornton (Killeen), pushing the nation’s top class to 17 players overall.

The Tigers won a head-to-head recruiting battle over Texas A&M for Monroe, the No. 1 safety in the country per 247Sports. According to reports, the near five-star planned on committing later this summer at Nike’s The Opening, but had a change of heart.

Thornton chose the Aggies over TCU and Texas A&M.
