LSU has landed a transfer pledge from former Ohio State defensive back Jyaire Brown.

The 5-foot-11 redshirt freshman announced his commitment to the Tigers on Thursday. He spent two seasons with the Buckeyes before deciding to enter the transfer portal. He comes to Baton Rouge with three seasons of eligibility.

The move to LSU is a homecoming for Brown. A New Orleans native, he spent the first two years of his high school career at Warren Easton High before spending his junior and senior years at a school in Ohio. As a recruit, he was rated a 4-star in the industry-generated 247 Composite and ranked as the 24th-best corner in the class.

He played in 10 games as a true freshman in 2022, seeing considerable time on defense and special teams. He recorded eight tackles, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble.

An ankle injury helped to seriously limit his role in the Buckeyes’ secondary this season, and he saw action in just four games with one tackle.

Brown is the third defensive back to commit to LSU out of the transfer portal. The 2024 class also includes six incoming defensive backs.
