Anytime a new coach takes over a program, there will be attrition.

Just last week, elite corner Saivion Smith announced his intentions to transfer from the program, and now, OL Willie Allen also announced he’ll transfer, too. Although attrition is to be expected somewhat with Ed Orgeron taking over, it’s still a gut-punch to lose such talented players.

Allen signed with LSU in the class of 2016, and he announced via his Twitter account that he’s now “officially opening up my recruitment” for potential transfer destinations. Allen redshirted for LSU this past season, and his announcement comes just hours prior to the start of summer school.

Allen exited high school in New Orleans ranked as the No. 17 OT prospect and the state’s No. 10 overall prospect for the class of 2016, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings. Although Allen is certainly talented, K.J. Malone and Toby Weathersby were expected to start at tackle for the Tigers this season.
