LSU sees veteran OL, member of 2019 national championship team, declare for NFL Draft
One of the last ties to LSU’s 2019 national championship team is moving on.
Veteran offensive lineman Charles Turner III took to social media on Tuesday to announce that he is declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft.
“First and foremost, I want to thank God for all the blessings he has given me. Without Him, nothing is possible,” Turner wrote in a note posted on X. “I want to thank my family for all the sacrifices and commitment they have made for me to get where I am today.
“Lastly, I want to thank LSU. I could not have 5 asked for a better college experience. To my coaches and teammates, I thank you for pushing me to be the best me I can be everyday. The memories we hold are forever ingrained in my brain. With that being said, I am entering the 2024 NFL Draft!!!”
Turner was a true freshman on the 2019 LSU national championship team, taking a redshirt after playing in 3 games. With the NCAA’s COVID-19 waiver for 2020, he effectively entered 2021 as a redshirt freshman and had 1 remaining season of eligibility for 2024.
Turner’s 2024 decision was indicated when the Senior Bowl announced his participation last week, with Tuesday’s declaration making things official.
