Malik Nabers has enjoyed an incredible rookie campaign with the New York Giants despite his team struggling in the win column, and he reached another milestone during Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.
Nabers reeled in a screen pass and darted around defenders for a 31-yard score that gave the Giants a 7-3 lead late in the first quarter of the game. The reception put him over the 1,000-yard mark for the season, joining the Los Angeles Chargers’ Ladd McConkey and former LSU teammate Brian Thomas Jr. (Jacksonville Jaguars) as the only rookie wide receivers to have done so this year.
Nabers also hit the 100-catch mark in this game, and he’s only had one game where he’s had under 50 receiving yards this season.
Running back Tyrone Tracy eclipsed the 1,000-yard rushing mark against the Colts as well, making him and Nabers the second pair of rookie teammates since 1970 to accomplish such a feat.
That young duo has been a bright spot admit plenty of darkness for the 2-13 Giants this season, although many fans believe the organization finally has some young skill pieces that it can build around in future drafts. Notably, many believe Nabers will be catching passes from projected top 5 draft pick Shedeur Sanders next season.
