LSU may be without one member of its offense for the entire 2018 season.

According to a 247sports report, redshirt sophomore tight end Jamal Pettigrew has sustained a knee injury that is “believed” to involve his ACL. Surgery would prevent Pettigrew from playing this year. The Tigers have not confirmed the injury.

Pettigrew, who is listed at 6-foot-7, 262 pounds, redshirted in 2016 before getting limited playing time last season. He had one catch for 18 yards, but played all 13 games, including a pair of starts, in 2017. The massive tight end was poised to potentially see more action this season, prior to the reported injury.

LSU doesn’t have much experience at tight end, so it will hurt to potentially not have Pettigrew in the mix.

Pettigrew, a New Orleans native, joined the Tigers after playing at St. Augustine High School.
