RJ Young believes Jayden Daniels is either destined to be a superstar or a potential first-round bust in the NFL.

In a recent segment, Young debated the impact of Daniels’ electric 2023 Heisman Trophy campaign and the rest of the quarterback’s career across Arizona State and LSU. There’s no denying the elite dual-threat Daniels displayed with the Tigers, but that does not mean it will automatically translate to NFL action.

That gives Young some pause when it comes to Daniels’ NFL future though his potential to be a superstar is present:

“Given what we know about (Daniels), he’s either Lamar Jackson or Johnny Manziel,” claimed Young. Jackson recently captured his second MVP award while Manziel was an epic bust in 2 NFL seasons after winning the Heisman at Texas A&M.

Young went on to contrast Daniels’ performance in the first 4 seasons of his college career with his final season in 2023. Daniels posted over 3,800 of his total 12,750 career passing yards in the 2023 season and 40 of his 89 passing touchdowns came last season.

That type of discrepancy yields some natural questions, according to Young:

“If you are drafting Jayden Daniels, the question you have to ask yourself is which dude am I getting? Am I getting the dude that we saw for four years or the dude we saw last year?” questioned Young.

Ahead of the NFL Combine, Daniels is widely projected as a top-5 pick with many analysts expecting Daniels to be the final of 3 QBs selected to begin the draft. Fans can track Daniels’ draft odds and the latest news on sports betting in Louisiana with SDS’s signature links.

Young believes overall that Daniels has the makeup to become a star NFL player. However, it would be best if he finds a scenario to sit and develop early in his career, similar to the path the Green Bay Packers took with Jordan Love.
