Todd McShay no doubt spoke for NFL scouts after LSU’s loss to Florida State on Sunday, and raised some alarm bells about star wide receiver Kayshon Boutte’s involvement, or lack thereof, in the Tigers’ offense.

“I’m dying to know (and will find out) the real story on what’s going on with LSU and its star WR Kayshon Boutte. LSU’s blatant lack of interest in getting him involved and Boutte’s obvious frustration was alarming!”

Boutte, a preseason All-American by the Associated Press, had just 2 catches for 20 yards in the 24-23 loss to Florida State after a late LSU comeback was spoiled by a blocked extra-point attempt.
Boutte became LSU’s go-to wide receiver late in 2020 when Terrace Marshall opted out of the season in November. He came into the season with 14 touchdowns in only 16 career games, and had at least one reception in each game he’s appeared. Overall, he has 85 career receptions for 1,264 yards.

Boutte may be most remembered for his huge game against Ole Miss in 2020, when he collected an SEC-record 308 yards and 3 TDs on 14 receptions in the 2020 season-finale.

In 16 career games, Boutte has 5 or more receptions 9 times, and this will likely be a storyline moving forward, especially once the NFL Draft rolls around.
