Following the resurgence of Michigan football, but the disappointment of two straight College Football Playoff semifinal losses, Jim Harbaugh is once again surrounded by rumors of a return to the NFL, according to The Athletic.

After parting ways with the San Francisco 49ers and taking the Michigan job shortly after, Harbaugh was seemingly stuck in a cycle of mediocre seasons — by Michigan standards — ending with a loss to Ohio State. However, he has the program in a complete 180 after a pair of impressive seasons and Playoff appearances. His evolution as a coach in recent years has come with buzz of a return to the NFL.

This is not the first time that he’s been rumored to return. Last year, he was in talks with the Minnesota Vikings but was ultimately never offered the job. Now, reports say all he needs is an offer and he’s as good as gone.

In his 4 seasons the 49ers head coach, Harbaugh was 44-19-1 with 3 NFC Championship appearances and a Super Bowl appearance. With his recent success at the collegiate level and his past success in the NFL, teams will certainly give a hard look his way as their next head coach. We’ll see what the future holds for the Michigan coach.
