By now, Dak Prescott is a household name, and he means many things to many people.

To his teammates, he’s a leader. To his fans, he provides hope to hoist the Lombardi Trophy. To younger fans, he’s a role model.

Prescott exploded onto the scene in Dallas similar to how he arrived on the scene in college. He’s known as a relentless worker and studier of all things football, but it appears he wants to do more studying outside the gridiron, too. Already holding a bachelor’s degree in Educational Psychology and a master’s in Workforce Leadership, Prescott told the Talk of Fame Network on SiriusXM that he wants to pursue his doctorate degree in Psychology at some point.

“I’ll actually continue at some point, either when I’m done or one offseason. I want to start working on my doctorate. It’s very important to me,” Prescott said.

And Prescott has already figured out in a short time what it might take some players a lifetime to figure out: education matters. And when guys are playing football, career injuries do unfortunately happen, but Prescott knows he has something to fall back on should his playing days end.

“Even though I had all the confidence in myself in making it to the NFL or in the game of football, I knew that it could be taken away from me at any moment,” he said. “I never wanted to be that guy saying, ‘What if I’d have gotten my degree or something, then I would’ve had something to fall back on.’

“Getting my degrees has helped me immensely just within the game of football and with people, just making me more educated in general. And it’s something that I continue to do.”

The 2016 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year already holds several NFL records and Mississippi State records, and he’ll no doubt add more in the future. If (or when) his playing days are over, he’ll be prepared for whatever his next step in life will be.
