Mike Leach has no shortage of opinions on a variety of subjects, and at SEC Media Days, it was his choice of pants.

In a conversation with Ryan McGee and Marty Smith on the SEC Network, Leach revealed that his khaki pants he wore in Atlanta at the College Football Hall of Fame were 100 percent cotton. Leach wasn’t sure where they came from, but figured they were Banana Republic, or from the equipment room at Mississippi State.

“I’ll tell you this, running around this event center here, there’s a whole bunch of people in those suit pants and some kind of double-knit stuff that damn sure wish they were in these pants,” the Mississippi State coach said. “They won’t say it because they want to look distinguished, but you know and I know, you know. Matter of fact, I have a feeling you’d like these pants on as well.”

In the past, Leach has shared how much he loves cargo shorts, and often coaches in them. He’s spoken about their versatility to hold his wallet, headphones, any change, a pen and practice script and sometimes sunglasses. There’s also room for “bigger, clunkier sheets of paper and even a small notebook.
