Mike Leach will be posthumously inducted into Texas Tech’s Ring-of-Honor later this fall.

Texas Tech officially announced that news on Wednesday afternoon. Leach is Texas Tech’s winningest head coach in program history.

Here’s the announcement:

Leach spent 10 seasons as Texas Tech’s head coach. He led the Red Raiders to a record of 84-43 during his tenure, including an 11-win campaign in 2008.

That remains Texas Tech’s only 11-win season in nearly 5 decades. The Red Raiders have reached that benchmark just twice previously — in 1973 and 1953. They have not recorded more than 8 wins in a season since Leach left the program.

Leach went on to have successful coaching tenures at Washington State and Mississippi State. In 2022, he led the Bulldogs to their first 8-win regular season since 2018.

He becomes the 6th coach in Texas Tech history to be inducted into the program’s Hall of Honor.

Leach passed away suddenly at the age of 61 in December of 2022.
