Mississippi State coach Zach Arnett is having a good Tuesday. Shortly after 4-star receiver JJ Harrell made it known he would be choosing the Bulldogs over Ole Miss, LSU, and Alabama, hometown blue-chipper Braylon Burnside made his commitment to MSU official as well.

Burnside, a 6-foot-1 wideout from Starkville (Miss.) High, turned down Ole Miss to play for Arnett in his hometown. He also took an official visit to Texas A&M and had another scheduled to Arkansas for this week. But, in looking for home, it’s clear Burnside felt he was already there.

A 4-star prospect in the industry-generated 247 Composite, Burnside also ranks as the No. 6 prospect in the state of Mississippi and the No. 14 athlete in the class. He’s ranked No. 185 overall, and gives MSU a second top-200 pledge.

Burnside saw snaps at receiver and safety for a Starkville team that went 12-2 and advanced to the Mississippi 6A state semifinal. He was credited with 75 receptions for 1,158 yards and 11 touchdowns. In 15 games, he averaged 15.4 yards per catch. He also had an interception and 12 tackles on defense.

He also competes in track and field (high jump, long jump) for Starkville.

Burnside is the third commitment of the day for MSU, which also landed 4-star corner PJ Woodland earlier. He’s Mississippi State’s 13th known pledge, joining a class that currently ranks inside the top 20 nationally. You can see his highlight tape below, via Hudl:
