In Year 1 of the Joe Moorhead era, an early game against Kansas State gave Mississippi State some big momentum heading into SEC play. In Year 2, Kansas State’s trip to Starkville results in a disappointing 31-24 loss for Moorhead’s Bulldogs.
After the game, the second-year MSU head coach held a brief postgame press conference, discussing the switch from Tommy Stevens to Garrett Shrader at quarterback as well as giving other injury updates:
- On starting QB Tommy Stevens: He stiffened up at halftime, was not able to complete the game.
- Cam Dantzler and Nick Gibson both have “lower-body” injuries. Dantzler tried to play on Saturday.
- On QB Garrett Shrader: He’s the backup quarterback for now. Keytaon Thompson, who competed with Stevens for the starting job, is dealing with a nagging “upper-body” injury. The injury plus the flirtation with the transfer portal have set him back.
