This is a big-time get for new Mississippi State head coach Joe Moorhead.

Four-star New Orleans WR Devonta Jason announced his commitment to Mississippi State during a high school ceremony. Jason is rated as the nation’s No. 30 overall WR and the state of Louisiana’s No. 5 overall player, according to 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Jason’s final three schools were MSU, LSU and Kansas, and the Bulldogs won out. He’s listed at 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, and he has a bright future at the position.

“I’ll get a head start and get a chance to go in there and get acclimated on the field,” Jason told The Advocate. “Why waste time? I can go ahead and get in there and start to grind.”

Interestingly, Jason was committed to both LSU and Kansas during the recruiting process, but ultimately chose MSU.
