Mississippi State has landed another recruit via the transfer portal in what has been a busy weekend for the Bulldogs.

Former Vanderbilt tight end Justin Ball took to social media to announce that he will be transferring to the Bulldogs.

“Rolled the dice, time to cash out,” Ball declared.

Ball announced his decision to enter the transfer portal earlier this month. The Commodores struggled mightily in 2023, going winless in the SEC and 2-10 overall. Ball was a key member of the offense, coming down with 15 catches for 131 yards and 1 TD.

The tight end spent 4 seasons in Nashville with the Commodores and will have 1 season of eligibility remaining.

The Bulldogs have been busy this weekend, earning commitments from several players in the portal. Guard Makylan Pounders, wide receiver Kelly Akharaiyi, and defensive back Tre Wright have announced their commitments to the Bulldogs on Sunday. The team has also added quarterback Blake Shapen, offensive lineman Ethan Miner, and defensive lineman Kedrick Bingley-Jones via the portal this offseason.

The Bulldogs and new head coach Jeff Lebby will be looking to improve in 2024 after ending 2023 with a 5-7 record. Lebby came to Starkville after a successful tenure as the offensive coordinator at Oklahoma.
