Tre Wright, a former Memphis defensive back, has announced what his next team will be.

The former 3-star recruit out of Perry, Georgia, entered the portal just days ago, on Dec. 12. The DB did not wait long to find a new home.

Wright took to social media to announce that he will be transferring to the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Wright starred for Perry High School when he originally committed to the Memphis Tigers in December 2022. Per the 247Sports Composite ranking, Wright was the No. 146 cornerback in the nation and the No. 167 prospect out of Georgia in the 2023 class.

Wright redshirted in 2023 and did not see the field for the Tigers.

The defensive back is the 6th player to commit to the Bulldogs via the transfer portal this offseason. Earlier on Sunday, the team also added former UTEP WR Kelly Akharaiyi. Wright is the 2nd Memphis player to transfer to Starkville, joining offensive lineman Makylan Pounders.

Wright will seemingly have a chance to contribute for the Bulldogs in 2024. The team has seen 4 defensive backs enter the portal this offseason and Wright is the only addition thus far.
