As Mississippi State faces Texas Tech in the Liberty Bowl, it will be missing a host of players on both sides of the ball.

On offense, the Bulldogs will be without wide receiver Christian Ford and right tackle Scott Lashley, along with safeties Jalen Green and Shawn Preston and defensive linemen Jaden Crumedy, Randy Charlton, and Jack Harris.

That’s on top of offensive lineman Charles Cross and cornerback Martin Emerson, who both had opted out to prepare for the 2022 NFL Draft, and linebacker Aaron Brule, who transferred to Michigan State.

The Bulldogs are playing in their 12th consecutive bowl game. It’s the first meeting for Mike Leach against the Red Raiders since his firing from the program after the 2009 season.
