Nick Fitzgerald has not only been an excellent passer during his career at Mississippi State, but the senior quarterback has excelled on the ground as well.

The Bulldogs’ dual-threat passer even made school history with his feet on Saturday against Kansas State.

Fitzgerald passed Dak Prescott for most career rushing yards by a quarterback in Mississippi State history. He also moved into third all-time in the SEC in that stat.

Fitzgerald had 77 rushing yards on his first nine carries against the Wildcats. The senior was making his season debut as he was suspended for the opener against Stephen F. Austin.

Entering this season, Fitzgerald had 2,486 rushing yards over his first three seasons with the Bulldogs.

Fitzgerald’s strong start helped Mississippi State lead early on Saturday as it led Kansas State, 10-3, midway through the second quarter.
