That didn’t take long.

After Dan Mullen left for Florida on Sunday, the Mississippi State Bulldogs reportedly already have their next head coach.

According to college football insider Brett McMurphy, the Bulldogs are set to hire Penn State OC Joe Moorhead over the course of the next few days. The move has since been made official by the school.

McMurphy tweeted on Tuesday night that a deal is being worked on and is expected to be completed soon:

Moorhead led a unique and creative Penn State offense this year and will try to do the same thing in Starkville. The 44-year-old coach took over as Penn State’s offensive coordinator after serving as Fordham’s head coach for four years.

He’ll have his work cut out for him to replace Mullen, who led the Bulldogs from relative obscurity to national prominence during his time in Starkville.

However, with his creative offensive mind and a quarterback like Nick Fitzgerald coming back, the Bulldogs could pick up right where they left off next season.
